At SASH, we know that everyone’s experience is different and that some young people might face unique challenges around their identity, family relationships, or living situation.
If you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community and are experiencing homelessness, housing issues, or just don’t feel safe at home, you’re not alone and there’s help out there.
One amazing organisation that supports LGBTQ+ young people across the UK is akt.
What is akt?
akt supports young people aged 16 to 25 who identify as LGBTQ+ and who are:
Homeless or at risk of homelessness
Living in a hostile or unsafe environment
Facing rejection or pressure at home because of their identity
They offer practical help, advice and emergency accommodation, as well as emotional support if things feel difficult.
What Support Do They Offer?
Help finding a safe place to stay
Support around housing, mental health, and getting into work or education
Someone to talk to who understands what you’re going through
Online and in-person services depending on where you live
How to Get in Touch
You can refer yourself to akt through their website, and they’ll get in touch with you - www.akt.org.uk
They also have a live chat option and you don’t need to know exactly what you want - just starting the conversation is enough.
